My Name is Will, and im a newly minted hobby bootmaker out of Homer, AK.
Ive got a background in small goods, and some saddle and tack repair. It took starting an Automotive business to drive me back to a creative hobby, and footwear is where the rabbit hole has currently led me, and ive certainly found a creative niche that i really enjoy.
Growing up in NE OK, id always had an interest in leather,and worked in a saddle/tack shop for a time while I was Rodeo Cowboy’ing in college.
I found this page chatting with @kemitchell and some of the gentlemen from the Stitchdown Discord.

You’re in large company coming in from tack and small goods. I rode the Tandy train in, myself!
There are certainly a few places to talk shoemaking on the Internet these days. We’ve got a real fine, small but growing group here on the forum.
I hope you’ll feel encouraged to be “helpfully selfish”: feel free to post about whatever’s got your attention, from highly specific questions to project progress to “hey, ain’t this neat!” Somebody almost always shows up to say something interesting that wasn’t anticipated. Getting convos going helps make this place worthwhile for everyone checking in.
