Online Shoemaking Book Hunt

We’ve got the whole topic for books at the Haverhill library:

But I myself and @thenewreligion are always bumping into new books on Google Books, Hathi Trust, Internet Archive, and elsewhere. I thought it might be to start a new topic where people could just share links!

Whenever we find a book old enough to clearly fall in the public domain, I try to remember to submit to Internet Archive.

How long copyright lasts varies by country and situation. For the US, as of January 1 this year, works we care about that were published before January 1, 1931 should be in the public domain. Wikipedia’s entry on the US public domain keeps an updated calculation.

You can always ask me if you have a question about a specific book or manual.

thanks, I put the ward book into internet archive as public domain. It was at least published before 29 but I think printing was limited and can’t find much about it

I looked, too. Has to be after 1890, since the author is listed as winning an award in that year. But that leaves plenty of years to still fall in the public domain.

And the journal that published it was defunct or renamed by 1929
