Online Video Appreciations

I had it on my to-do list to send a few thank-yous after finishing my second pair. I’m about to sit down and figure out how to send those notes to the folks behind these three excellent Japanese YouTube channels:

I probably can’t overstate how much I learned watching through their videos, some of which run very long and clearly took way, way longer to shoot, edit, and upload. These aren’t by far the only “YouTube makers” I’ve enjoyed, but these three came to my mind again as a group, and I’m excited to share them.

At the same time, I am little nervous that my thank-you notes won’t come across with the proper politeness. What little I know about Japanese includes a tidbit that there are often several ways to say things, depending on the situation and your relationship to the person you’re addressing. Hopefully keeping things short and adding a little note at the end about automatic translation will get my good intentions across.

Well I think japanese enjoy american culture and brusqueness too, just be yourself, say something like “howdy” theyll love it

Kazuma Nishimura sent a very kind reply by e-mail earlier today.

He had to use an online translator, too. But what came out is that I cheered him up, and that he will keep making videos.
