Pattern Grading, Last shipping and other Q's for the pros

Hi All,

I’m gearing up to get some more lasts and that means new patterns too. I’ve got my lastmaker picked out but the shipping is usually insanely expensive when they provide it. Any tips to save money when ordering from Leon, MX? Horma SA de CV specifically.

Next question, who grades your patterns? I have handmade patterns that work excellently on one size of my lasts and would like to have them graded so that I can offer them on the full size run. I also have access to a laser cutter that does wonderful work in acrylic and really want to use that on the new batch. I would like to work with someone I can communicate with easily and also mail the patterns instead of having to scan them into digital. Would love to hear who you use and any pros and cons. Thanks!

Dave

Both of these questions interest me, too, but I’m afraid I don’t have anything at all to offer on them.

Have you asked Bob Henderson about it? He’s in Canada, and I don’t know if his new lasts were from Horma SA de CV. But I’m pretty sure he just expanded his line. Must have seen something about it on Instagram.
