Got a little carried away with how much I pulled in the holdfast through the waist, so will have to be a little mindful of the shank sizing/placement. Bought some beech wood to make some wood shanks for these.
Finalizing some hardware finishes. This is a “white copper” finish that is more of a warmer nickel finish; almost champagne. Think it works well with the underlying taupe tone in the gray leather.
My plan at the moment is to borrow Unsung House’s 235 degree welt that they do where the welt runs from the heel on the lateral side to the ball on the medial side, and then peg the waist on the medial side. I will still stitch the upper into the holdfast, but just stop the welt short.
Plan is to have some burgundy accents tied in to give a bit of warmth, so burgundy stitching, red-brown dr sole half soles, and places like the lining for the straps. Using Badalassi Carlo Habana for the accents. Gorgeous leather.
