I’ve done the wax and solvent combined over low heat before is pretty straightforward just need to play with the ratios to get the spreadability and finish you want. Beeswax with a variable small amount of carnauba for shine works well. Tried a few solvents and liked limonene, a less volatile and noxious turpene and smells like orange peels. Available as a cleaning product like Nature’s Orange

Brian the Bootmaker did a new YouTube short yesterday. It starts about heel shape but goes on to cover his “natural”, wax-only finish. I can’t tell exactly what kind of wax he uses, but he crayons it on and takes it to a buffing wheel. Looks great. Darkens a bit under friction.
It’s hard to show in a photo, but I’ve noticed the color I got applying Fiebing’s 228 bottom stain from Panhandle turned out rather pinkish. Moreso than golden.
Has anyone else tried Fiebing’s 228? How would you describe the color?
