First boot - Chukka-ish?

I don’t think so and I trimmed a good bit back, but with that said, after separating and re-gluing, the outsole is definitely sitting a hair shorter than the mid sole, so it is a possibility i induced some CTE related stress.

On a side note, the cardone punch works beautifully.

My only issue now is the dr sole material doesn’t want to stay open at all after being punched, so getting a needle through each side to saddle stitch is pretty much impossible. I ordered some hooked curved needles that match the awl geometry, so should be able to lock stitch it when they come in.

Did you use one of Tom Carbone’s bench-mounted bracket jigs with the Rapid E needle?

Yah, it’s delightfully janky looking and I did some reshaping of the awl tip on the whetstone, but with some modifications from one of the guys in the discord to help with awl release it works really well.

For reference, the 22/50 hooked needle fits the cardone punch perfectly and works really well. I will take some photos as i do the actual stitching.

Also, working on this whole “taking boot photos” thing. Couple weeks of wear on these and they’re picking up some nice rolls.

We could start a whole new topic on shoe photography.

I probably should.

After a month of 5-6 day per week wear, this leather is developing a lot of really interesting textural differences. Surprisingly high gloss too
